Midsumma Festival arrives in the West

Melbourne’s annual queer celebration is celebrating 25 years. The 2013 Midsumma Meets Maribyrnong program includes the following fantastic events happening right here in the West.

Monologue of a Deaf Woman
Medina Sumovic and Stephanie Linder present to you this powerful, aweinspiring piece about life, love and the universe from a deaf gay woman’s perspective. Be moved and entertained by this performance in the stunning venue conversion that is The Bluestone Church Arts Space, Footscray. This performance is proudly presented by Australian theatre of the Deaf, Arts Access, Maribyrnong City Council and Midsumma Festival.
When: Friday 18th Jan 2pm and 7:30pm, Sunday 20th Jan 5pm

Team Melbourne Midsumma Sports Day
Meet at Footscray Park to try your hand at Badminton, Dancing, Hockey, Netball, Rugby, Running, Soccer, Squash, AFL Football,
Swimming, Table Tennis or Volleyball at this inaugural Footscray sports extravaganza. Enjoy a relaxing sunset BBQ at the end of the days activities on the banks of the Maribyrnong River. Presented by Maribyrnong City Council and Team Melbourne in
association with Midsumma Festival.
When: Sat 19 Jan 10am – 4pm
Where: Footscray Park
Cost: FREE!

Bent Kranks Bike Ride
Meet at Footscray Park for a 1pm ready to ride off. This 15km round trip ride will go along the Maribyrnong River to a fabulous lookout point across to the city skyline. Returning to Footscray Park by 4 pm, riders will have the opportunity to meet up with the Team Melbourne Sports Day Round robin BBQ on the banks of the Maribyrnong River. Riders of all abilities welcome. Presented by Maribyrnong City Council and Midsumma Festival.
