Konjo is a recent addition to Footscray’s Ethiopian café /restaurant scene and has quickly established itself as a popular destination for people young and old.
In 2001, French-born Rozenn met Abdul, from Ethiopia in Melbourne and with a lot of hard work and support from their community, they have set up a thriving business in Footscray with their two children. Rozenn supported the start of the business by working as a teacher’s assistant of French in Victorian schools, while Abdul worked in an abattoir in the mornings and ran the shop in the afternoons.
They are well known in the Melbourne Ethiopian community, having previously established a restaurant in Collingwood. Over the years they have helped and encouraged many family members and friends to start businesses in and around Footscray. They’ve also seen many changes to the area. Rozenn & Abdul from Konjo represent the new flavours of Footscray.
