Getting to Footscray with Abdulazize and Rozenn

This week we continue our conversation with Rozenn and Abdulazize and ask them about getting around Footscray. Find out what they think is the best way to get to and from their favourite Melbourne suburb.

Footscray is only 5kms from the city. What’s the best way to travel to Footscray from the city and why?
A: The train is the best way to get to Footscray. Ten minutes and you’re there.

Do you think Footscray is a safe place to walk around, especially at night and do you have any tips for staying safe?
A: We need to let people know it’s very safe. New generations have come along and with them they’ve brought change. If you come to Footscray, don’t be shy!  Start a conversation with the locals, Africans love to chat.

R: I agree. It’s very safe and a lot cleaner than it used to be. We need people to get a new first impression.

Do you have any advice for people coming to Footscray? Any places they must visit or experiences they shouldn’t miss out on?
R: People should come here to experience different kinds of foods and traditions, like our coffee ceremony. It helps with everything, including relationships and children.

What should people do in Footscray?
A: You should bring your bike. There are lots of great places to ride and lots of interesting things to do.

R: We’ve got beautiful parks and lots of colour, variety and diversity.
