Footy’s back

It’s been 17 years since the Western Bulldogs played home games in Footscray, but thanks to the newly formed Bulldogs VFL team, the siren has sounded once again at the iconic Victoria University Whitten Oval.

As an extra bonus for the area, the new VFL team has been named the Footscray Bulldogs, endorsed by the Bulldogs Board following an overwhelming preference for the name by members.

The oval gets a new name too; the Victoria University Whitten Oval represents the partnership between the leading sport university and the new VFL team.

Simon Garlick, Chief Executive of the Western Bulldogs, said these new developments proudly embrace the club’s heritage while equally heralding a bright future. “The partnership makes perfect sense. It provides the Dogs with the unique opportunity to tap into world class sports science and elite sport best practice,” said Simon Garlick.

Entry to VFL games is free for Bulldogs members and a gold coin donation for non members.
